Testing Winches & Cranes in New Power Plant

In late January 2011, Hydro-Wates proof-load tested a range of winches and cranes at a new power plant in San Antonio, Texas. Many of the cranes were in hard to reach places and required a full function test of the hoisting system over its complete range of travel. Some of the test loads were hoisted over 200 ft vertically through and around structural steel framing. The sequence of picture below shows a 5 ton water bag being hoisted from ground level to the top of a fly ash silo.
